Has any of your children experienced any side effects after the H1N1 mist vaccine? This could be coincidental a not associated with the vaccine however my normally healthy 3 year old daughter had the h1n1 mist shot 3 weeks ago. Within 2 days she has experienced several symptoms of “something”. At first it was runny nose which then went to cough, sore throat, very high fevers, micro blood and protein in urine. Each symptom appears to come an go. (ex: high fevers first week and then again on 3rd week which last about 2 days each time). At the current time the normally hyper child is very exhausted (not lethargic) and has diarrhea and is showing no other symptoms today.
Of course we have had several doctor visits: 1st time assumed Strep- Negative. 2nd time assumed Urinary Tract Infection _ negative, Blood work has come back fine. Chest Xrays for Pneumonia – fine. We just got word the next step it to get her to a local childrens hospital so specialist can view her.
I will certainly keep you all posted however am curious if anyone has seen similar?

This girl in my school (lets call her Mallory) has H1N1 (or otherwise known as swine as you all must know) And my best friend( Lets call her Cheya) sits in her desk for one class. Today (before we found out that Mallory had H1N1), Cheya had a terrible headache so she put her head on the desk. After we found out that Mallory had H1N1, We got to go home early, so we were driving a little kid home and we passed Mallory’s house. And we saw an EMS truck… Thats when Cheya really started freaking out… When we got to Cheya’s place we immedeatly started dissenfecting. She also said she had all the symptoms like diarreah, headaches, sorethroats… stuff like that… But I really wanna know If I’m overreacting…

So I live in Austin, Tx and was wondering if anyone else on here does too and has heard of somewhere to get the H1N1 vaccine from. I have looked it up and found nothing. I am really wanting to get this vaccine. I don’t want to be lectured about not getting it because I am pregnant. I have talked to my doctor and went over any risks. In my opinion, it’s better to get the vaccine a little bit of the symptoms than get the actualy virus itself and get REAL sick. Anyone know of an Austin clinic that is doing the vaccines?!

I’m a fifteen year old girl in Illinois. I am having symptoms similar to those experienced by people who had H1N1. I started not feeling so good on Monday, but it was only muscle and joint aches. Yesterday, just out of the blue, I got this really bad headache. I started having chills and my muscles and joints just hurt like nothing else. I took some generic night time medicine stuff and it knocked me out for a few hours. About an hour after I woke up it started all over again, only more mild. I am not having diarrhea, vomiting, or a sore throat. I am not having trouble breathing, and my chest and abdomen area don’t hurt or feel like there is pressure put on them. My stomach doesn’t hurt. I am having sort of a dry cough, but it’s not bad. My body temperature ranges from 99.5 – 100 degrees. The headache went away for the most part, but it comes and goes. It hurts most when I look at bright things and when I look up. I don’t take any regular medications and I don’t have a chronic illness. I sometimes have chills and sometimes start sweating. Could it just be the seasonal flu? Or a cold? Could it be severe PMS, because I’m also having tenderness in my breasts and I am supposed to start my period this weekend? If it is H1N1, how long does it last for? How should I treat it? Will it kill me? Will it kill me suddenly? I have been researching this subject and and my mind is still not at ease. Please, someone help me. I don’t want to die.

I am 24 weeks pregant and have been exposed to H1N1 by a co-worker who missed two days ill and showed up to work totally sick as a dog. We made her go home after she said they confirmed her to have a H1N1 influenza and the doctor advised her to remain home for 7+ days. She said she can’t afford to miss that many days. Well I can’t afford to get swine flu being pregnant and all. If you would have seen how sick she was it was terrifying. She was totally on the brink of pneumonia. I also work with customers all day and handle money. I have a 5 year old who has asthma, and a 15 month old (healthy girl). I have never gotten flu shots and was totally against getting h1n1 vaccine and I am skeptical of all government aided tactics. However now that I have been exposed I am more skeptical of the flu than the vaccine. I am starting to think a little mercury can’t hurt too much. We are of a fishing family and eat fish weekly probably being exposed to higher levels continuously. Kids at my son’s school and even my son one month ago have all had symptoms similar, and a few students have confirmed cases of h1n1. School attendance has been crazy here. I am vaccinating my whole family now and want to know if others feel the same.

My daughter has been sick for the past week with an on and off fever. her symptoms are:
-sore joints
-sore muscles
-deep cough
-very tired
-sore throat
-runny nose
which one is it? I’ve heard there is no difference, but then why do people say you’ve got H1N1 OR the seasonal flu?

I am taking my USMLE Step 1 on Feb 3rd (T- 22 days) and I am sure H1N1 will be on there to some degree. Unfortunately, I took a few months break after Med 2 before signing up for the exam and while I was in class H1N1 wasn’t a hot topic of discussion. So I pretty much need a lecture. I checked CDC but they just go on and on about the vaccine and never really talk about the diagnosis. What I need to know are clinical signs or symptoms that you (and USMLE) might use to differentiate H1N1 from the usual flu. I understand neuroaminidase inhibitors are currently the DOC but is there anything else that should be brought to my attention? What are some major, common and realistic complication of H1N1. But really any information you can provide in detail while sparing me the media hype would greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

So, my daughter was sent home yesterday with a 102 degree fever. She had also complained to the school nurse about having a headache and backache. My younger daughter was also sent home so that way I could monitor both at the same time and take them both to the doctor if need be. The doctor’s office said yesterday not to bring them in… but today I took them because my younger one had developed a pretty bad cough. Needless to say, the pediatrician confirmed that they both have it and ordered us Tamiflu at the local pharmacy. Now, not even 8 hours after their doctor’s visit, they’re running around the house like crazy. They’ve only had one dose of Tamiflu so far. I’ve heard that some people are having mild symptoms, but they seemed to make too fast of a turnaround for them to really have this. I have yet to hear of anyone feeling better in less than 24 hours. Don’t get me wrong… it’s wonderful that they feel this way, I hate to see them sick. But has anyone else here had the flu or has had children/loved ones have it and bounce back so quickly? The doctor wants to hear back from me tomorrow. My biggest fear is that doctors are too quick to say it’s H1N1 because it’s so widespread, but if this isn’t what my daughters really have then we’ve jumped the gun and wasted 2 orders of Tamiflu… and what if this isn’t it and they really do get it in the next month or so? Will the Tamiflu still work?
Symptoms of my children include:
My oldest is 8: She had 102 degree fever, was lethargic, and had headache and backache.
My youngest is 6: She had no fever, mild sniffling, and today had a cough that sounded really rattled.
Now neither one of them has any symptoms…. which is very strange to me… if it’s H1N1….

I have been feeling bad for about two weeks. It started off with just a cough, then the cough got deeper into my chest like bronchitis, and then I got a fever and started shaking.
I feel horrible and I thought a nice hot shower would help… it did help a little with my congestion, but when I got out of the shower and was toweling off in front of the mirror, I became very concerned I may have The Swine Flu!
I took a snapshot and I am hoping that someone might be able to tell me with the symptoms I just described and the photo, if I have H1N1 (Swine Flu).
Thanks ahead of time and I really hope that its not as bad as it looks.
