So 4 weeks ago I got my regular season flu shot… I was gonna get my H1N1 shot tomorrow, but over the weekend I came down with flu like symptoms and was diagnosed with “Influenza A”, doctor assumed it was H1N1 since I got my flu shot for seasonal already. But instead of being sick like a dog for 2 weeks like my friends with H1N1, I recovered in 2 days!!! (Thank God!!)
I heard that if you got the seasonal flu shot, you can still get sick with the seasonal flu, but a minor version (like the one I had) of the flu. What do you guys think? How can I know for sure?
I am asking because I am wondering if I should still go ahead with the H1N1 vaccine now that I got this flu… THANKS!!
You might have gotten the H1N1, it comes and goes away quickly, and you should take the nasal vaccine just in case
Go ahead with the vaccine. You may have gotten a mutated version of the seasonal flu that you shot didn’t immunize yourself against, in which case you need the swine flu shot. Many people react differently to the swine flu – some spring back immediately, some take weeks and weeks. Always err on the side of caution when it comes to immunizing against deadly diseases.
It won’t hurt to get the H1N1 vaccine, regardless of which version of flu you just got over. Remember that there are many many different strains of flu, some mild, some severe, and the seasonal flu shot does not cover them all.
You might have had a completely different virus, especially since it only lasted two days.
If you planned to get the H1N1 shot, you might as well go ahead, just to be sure.
Still get the shot-just to be safe
the seasonal shot won’t keep the flu away, just get rid of most of the simptoms if you have it
u should have asked to get checked at your hospital to no if u had H1N1
my lil sis had h1n1 and it lasted 4 a week –even with the tamiflu
so since u only had it for 2 days it was probably just a cold
maybe you got the regular flu, but instead of the two week thing, you got a watered-down version of it that you got over quicker
